Firewise Information
Published on April 04, 2025
As we enter the summer season with heightened wildfire risk, I am urging all community members to actively participate in fire safety measures to protect our homes and loved ones.
Please consider the following:
- Create a Fire Evacuation Plan: Identify escape routes, designated meeting points outside your home, and practice your plan with your family.
- Clear Defensible Space: Remove flammable vegetation around your home, including dry leaves, branches, stacked firewood and debris. Locate propane tanks away from any structures.
- Maintain Your Property: Trim trees regularly, prune overhanging branches, and keep your lawn mowed short.
- Check Fire Safety Equipment: Ensure your smoke detectors are working properly and have a readily accessible fire extinguisher.
- Be Aware of Fire Restrictions: Stay updated on local fire bans and restrictions regarding campfires, outdoor cooking, and fireworks usage.
