TrekAbout, a walking club sponsored by Prescott Parks & Recreation, Yavapai County Community Health Services (YCCHS), Prescott YMCA and community volunteers, has a low annual fee.

Adults gather at various trailheads according to a monthly calendar of hikes issued to all TrekAbout members through Prescott Parks & Recreation. Walking enthusiasts meet every Tuesday for an hour walk, and every Thursday for a trail hike that may take up to two hours.

YCCHS health educators who guide some of these scheduled walks suggest that participants carry water, wear hiking boots for foot comfort, and bring any other supplies needed for their outdoor comfort, such as bug spray or sun screen products.

Since the activity is self-paced, and the walks all vary in difficulty and distance, people quickly find which walks are easy for them, and which ones will show them how much their fitness has improved after several weeks of increased physical activity.

If interested, call Prescott Parks & Recreation for annual membership information at (928) 777-1122.
