Yavapai County Community Health Services

What is Health Start?

Health Start helps women and teens who are pregnant or who have a child under the age of 2.  Trained, experienced women (Community Health Workers) who are all mothers themselves, help answer questions about pregnancy and taking care of babies. They help find a doctor if you don’t already have one.  The Community Health Workers help you fill out forms and help make appointments for AHCCCS, WIC and other family services.  The Community Health Workers help you get ready for labor and delivery.  They visit you in your home while you are pregnant and after your baby is born to help you, your baby and other family members to become and stay healthy.
