Environmental Services Unit

The Environmental Services Unit is a division of Development Services. It performs a variety of functions delegated by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ). Environmental Services carries out all aspects of permitting and inspections of conventional and alternative onsite wastewater disposal systems up to 24,000 gallons per day, permitting of water and sewer line extensions, and approving the sanitary facilities for subdivisions.

Cesspool Abatement Program

We are excited to announce Yavapai County Development Services was awarded grant money to help property owners who have financial hardships abandon their cesspool and get a functioning septic system.

Qualifications include:

  1. Resident of Yavapai County and a legal resident of the US.
  2. Occupied the home for at least 12 months full time
  3. Must be their primary residence for now and the next five years.
  4. Property taxes must be up to date.
  5. Home must be insured. (There is some help with this is they aren’t able to afford insurance.)
  6. Applicant must own the home and be on the title.

For ownership changes on a property with an onsite wastewater system please visit the Citizenserve Online Permit Portal.

Note:If the overall project includes water storage tanks, water treatment, new source approval or similar, please apply to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality for the entire project.
