JAMES GREGORY - BIOGRAPHY
James has been a resident of Yavapai County, District 2, for 37 years. His entire career has been spent in service to his community and country.
Following graduation from Mayer High School in 1988, James entered the United States Air Force (USAF) as a Military Police Officer. During his 5-year military career he was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico and Osan Air Force Base in Korea.
After his military career, James began a career in Law Enforcement. He served two years with Yavapai County as a detention officer, and 25 years with the Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD). James was a Patrol Lieutenant responsible for managing Patrol, K-9, and SWAT operations. Prior to that, he supervised Criminal Investigations, Community Services, Support Services and PANT – a multi-agency drug task force in Yavapai County.
He has extensive experience coordinating responses to emergency situations with other local, state, and federal agencies. James is passionate about combatting substance abuse throughout Yavapai County, actively supporting MATForce activities focused on enforcement and education. He has served on the Yavapai County Mental Health Coalition and the Yavapai County Overdose Review Board. A major highlight of James’ law enforcement career was graduating from the prestigious FBI National Academy in 2017. James retired from Prescott Valley Police Department in November 2020.
James and his wife Staci have been married for 27 years and have two children, Brianna is 23 years old and a nurse at Yavapai Regional Medical Center East Campus, and Tyler is 19 years old and in the United States Air Force stationed in Clovis, New Mexico. He is excited for the opportunity to continue to serve the residents of Yavapai County in his role as District 2 Supervisor.
