Yavapai County Flood Control District

he Legislature of the State of Arizona delegated responsibility to each county flood control district to adopt regulations designed to promote the public health, safety, and general welfare of its citizenry. The Yavapai County Flood Control District was created, and the initial floodplain regulations were adopted by the District Board of Directors in December 1981. The regulations and requirements of the District's Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance  are intended to minimize public and private losses due to flood conditions. The Yavapai County Drainage Design Manual was first adopted by Resolution 1151 in November 1998. New Yavapai County Drainage Design Manual Being Considered

Notice is hereby given that the Yavapai County Flood Control District Board of Directors will be considering the adoption of a proposed new Yavapai County Drainage Manual (DDM) to replace the existing Yavapai County Drainage Criteria Manual. The Board of Directors will hold a courtesy hearing concerning this matter on May 18th at 10 South 6th St, Cottonwood, AZ 86326 at 9:30AM. The Board of Directors will hold a final hearing on this matter and consider the formal adoption of the Yavapai County Drainage Design Manual (DDM) on June 1st at 1015 Fair St, Prescott, AZ 86305 at 9:30 AM. District staff is recommending that the Board of Directors rescind the existing Yavapai County Drainage Criteria Manual and replace it by adopting the proposed Drainage Design Manual (DDM), with both actions to become effective on July 1, 2015. The DDM is a more detailed, comprehensive document that will provide improved guidance to the engineering and building community relating to the design of drainage infrastructure and development in and around flood hazard areas, as well as to the citizens of Yavapai County to ensure that design and construction are completed to minimum standards. The updates provided in the proposed DDM are generally described in a one-page summary that can be obtained online by going to www.yavapai.us/ycflood and clicking the “Drainage Design Manual” link, or by calling 928-771-3197 in the Prescott area or 928-639-8151 in the Verde Valley to schedule a time to view a hard copy of the document.
